REBEL MOON
(An Anthology of supernatural tales)
by Various

Have you ever wondered what Death would look like if he approached you at a bus stop? Or what would happen if a vampire’s chosen victim turned out to be more than they had bargained for?

Rebel Moon is a collection of stories that will whisk you into worlds of vampires, werewolves and witchcraft so prepare yourself for a bumpy ride as sometimes the dead have more of a life than the living and if this book teaches you anything it is to always expect the unexpected!

From the teen witches you wouldn’t want to cross in One Witch Down to the dark comedy of Evil 101, this is a book you won’t want to put down.

MISERABLE MIDDLES
by Phoebe Penhalligan and Boo Irwin.
Illustrations by Karen Hurd.
A collection of tales from the Underworld Kingdom including "A Miserable Middle", "The Bloody Ballad", "The Petrified Prince" and others inspired by the recent debate over unhappy endings in children's fiction. The beautiful cover illustration has been designed by Karen Hurd. This collection of tales may sometimes have a miserable middle but they all end happily, well kind of!

(Excerpt from "A Bloody Ballad")

"Saxo Douglas walked into the room keeping his eyes on the floor. He was tall and thin with long black hair and a snub nose. He was not a musician by trade and this was his first audition. As he took his place before the King and Queen he raised his eyes and so visible was his suffering that the Queen removed her earplugs for the first time that day. He had not yet uttered a word and yet she could feel his pain as if it were her own. The King however was only interested in blood and gore, he liked a bloody ballad or a song of suffering, but as far as he was concerned love was not for songs it was for poetry, and poetry was definitely not one of his favourite things.

"What will you be singing about today?" ventured the King warily.

"Love." Saxo replied simply. "I will sing about a love so powerful that it was more important than all the riches in the world!"

It's Real!!!

So, today I received my author's copy of REBEL MOON in the mail!!!! And I can not contain the *squee!* It's one thing to know you're story has been published, but when you actually hold it in your hand it's flipping amazing!

In honor of my happy moment, I'm sharing with you the first paragraph of PARALLEL, as it appears in REBEL MOON, an Anthology of Supernatural Tales.

Parallel
By L.J. Boldyrev

I walked in to school like nothing had changed even though I couldn’t stop thinking about that night. That one wonderful, terrible night when I had finally given in to him. It was weird to think about it now—while walking down the locker-lined halls of my high school on two legs—but when I ran with him through the forest under the light of the full moon. He was everything to me.

And there it is! Yay! If you hate it, please don't tell me because my fragile heart can't handle that today. Thumper's mom knew best," If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Annnnd if you want to purchase the anthology because you love me, or one of the other 16 authors, there are links in my sidebar to various online book sellers. And in advance, I thank you and give you a great big e-hug. *hug*

"Waiting on" Wednesday: Week 1

WOW is hosted by Breaking The Spine. This is my first time participating but I'll be doing it from now on :)

My first week's pick is DEAD IN THE FAMILY by Charlaine Harris. Release date: May 4th 2010
(some sources say May 27th, but I'm going by Amazon)
I am a big Sookie Stackhouse fan and in many ways, Charlaine's Southern Vampire Mysteries were the books that kick-started my own writing venture.

After careful searching (nobody seemed to have a synopsis), I came across True Blood Online, and snagged us the following:

Dead In The Family is the title of the 10th Sookie Stackhouse book by Charlaine Harris. On September 1 Mrs. Harris wrote on her blog:

I finished DEAD IN THE FAMILY Sunday, the last possible day I could finish it. My friend Toni is reading it now, and then I’ll send it to my editor, Ginjer. The concept of DITF was originally quite different from the book I ended up writing, but that often happens and doesn’t quite scare me like it used to. At first I thought DITF would be very episodic; it turned out to have a unifying theme and to have a crazy night of resolution. Of course, this may change once my editor has a read!

By the time I send a book in to New York, I hate it. Maybe I hate DITF a little less than others. I don’t know if that’s good or bad.

Finishing a book is like coming up out of deep water. It’s a relief just to breathe and look around and return to the land of the living. I’ve had a long list of things that needed to be done, and now I have time to do them.

Let’s wait and see what the editor will say about it… in the meantime there is already a synopsis of Dead In The Family available on the internet.

Sookie Stackhouse has finally settled into a relationship with the Viking vampire Eric, and her errant brother Jason seems to have his life in order, too. But all the other people in Sookie’s life – Eric himself, her former lover Bill, her friend and boss Sam – are having family problems. Eric’s maker shows up with Eric’s ‘brother’ in tow, the ailing Bill can only be healed by a blood sibling, and Sam’s brother’s marriage is about to take place …or will it? The furor raised by the coming out of the two-natured has yet to settle; some people are just not ready to sit down to dinner with a man who turns into a dog. And Sookie herself is still recovering from her last ordeal. She’s definitely improving, physically and mentally, but she’s always going to have some dark moments now. The werewolves tell her that there have been strange and ominous passers-by in the Stackhouse woods; now Sookie is about to come face-to-face with one of her more distant relatives …
